Mucha at Kelvingrove

Tym razem nie będzie ciuszków, będzie sztuka >D Jak już pewnie wiadomo, Alfons Mucha należy do moich ulubionych grafików - absolutnie nie ulubionych malarzy, bo jego styl w malarstwie kompletnie się nie sprawdza, jest wyjątkowo mdły - i wstyd się przyznać, nie widziałam nigdy jego dzieł na żywo, jedynie przedruki. Aż do zeszłej soboty, gdy w Kelvingrove miało miejsce otwarcie wystawy z pracami Muchy (oraz kilkoma dziełami prerafaelitów i grafikami, jak to Szkoci dumnie mówią, jedynych przedstawicieli secesji na Wyspach - Mackintosha, jego żony i szwagierki, oraz krewnych i znajomych. Co do bycia jedynymi przedstawicielami to bym się kłóciła, no ale ok).

Wystawa otwarta jest do 19 lutego, i jeśli komuś przydarzy się akurat być w Szkocji, nieważne gdzie - naprawdę polecam pofatygować się do Glasgow. Tyle piękna rzadko kumuluje się w jednym miejscu, no i sama wystawa jest świetnie opracowana - wyczerpujące opisy prac, tłumaczenie wpływów słowiańskich i bizantyńskich na dzieła Muchy, omówienie jego wpływu na art noveau w ogólności i zestawienie z innymi artystami, a nawet bardzo ciekawy film o tym, jak styl Muchy przeniknął do hippisowskiej sztuki lat 60. oraz współczesnego komiksu europejskiego, no i wywiad z prawnuczką artysty. <3 Był też kącik z kanapą, lustrem, mnogością szmatek, biżuterii oraz wszelakich akcesoriów, dzięki którym można było poczuć się jak dzieło sztuki i pstryknąć sobie fotkę na pamiątkę. Nie byłabym sobą gdybym nie skorzystała. >D Z wystawy wyszłam wielce ukontentowana, ciągle jeszcze się troszkę trzęsąc (syndrom Stendhala ftw) oraz lżejsza o dużo za dużo monet (no bo limitowane plakaty. ;____; Ale przynajmniej prezenty gwiazdkowe mam po części załatwione!)

This time there won't be clothes, it's time for art >D As you may know, Alphonse Mucha is one of my favourite graphic designers - that is, not a favourite painter, because his distinctive style doesn't work well in paintings - and it's a shame to confess that I've never seen his works in person. At least until last Saturday, when the Mucha's exhibition was opened at Kelvingrove (there are some works of the preraphaelites and, as Scotts like to say, the only art nouveau artists of British Isles - Mackintosh and his relatives and friends. I would argue if they were the only art noveau artists in Britain, but well, okay).

The exhibition is opened until 19th February, and if anyone happens to be at this time in Scotland, no matter where exactly - I strongly reccommend visiting Glasgow. It's unusual to find so much beauty in such a small space at the same time, and the exhibition itself was skillfully prepared - well-written work's descriptions, some word on Slavic/Bysantine influences in Mucha's art, his impact on art nouveau in general and comparison with other artists, even a very interesting film about how Mucha inspired arts of the hippie movement and contemporary European comics, oh, and the interview with artist's great-granddaughter. <3 There's also a corner with a sofa, mirror and lots of fabrics, jewellery and accessories so you can transform yourself into a work of art and document it with a decent photoshoot. I won't be myself if I wouldn't take an advantage of it >D After visiting the exhibition, I was happy like never before, still a bit shaking (Stendhal syndrome is real, guys) and lighter of many, many coins (because limited edition posters ;____; But at least I have some of Christmas gifts solved already!)

Three out of six posters (and a sketch for Gismonda, for which final work was a launch of Mucha's carrier - people were tearing the posters off the walls, they liked them so much >D ), which Mucha made for plays of Sara Bernhardt. The poster for Hamlet is just <3 Also, I have a hard girl crush on Bernhardt right now.

My favourite version of Four Seasons series, with the most beautiful Summer <3 Next to it, an advertisement for an ironworks company - for me, it makes such a nice contrast with very organic Seasons, and those ronaments are just... ahh.

Reklama likieru (no kto by się domyślił :v ) oraz dwa panele dekoracyjne, czyli sztuka Muchy dla każdego, niezależnie od statusu materialnego.

Nieco Mackintosha (swoją drogą, uważam za przeurocze że bliscy przezywali go "Toshie" <3), który tak przy okazji jest patronem mojej szkoły (chociaż uważam, że jako grafik/architekt wnętrz sprawdzał się lepiej niż architekt per se) oraz jeden jedyny Dante Gabriel Rosetti, ze zbiorów muzeum - akurat mój najmniej ulubiony prerafaelita, meh.
Some Mackintosh here (by the way, I find it overly adoreable that his relatives and close friends called him "Toshie" <3 ), who is a patron of my school (but in my opinion he was more successfull as an graphic/interior designer, not an architect per se, but that's just a thought), and the only Dante Gabriel Rosetti's painting they have at Kelvingrove - unfortunately, not my fave of preraphaelites.
